My Journey of Starting a New Business (1)
Today is day one of my startup journey.
After thinking through the idea, I’m excited to launch the business and see where it goes. The idea appeals to me because it solves a problem I have, and I believe there are other people out there with similar needs.
I spent some time researching competitors today and was surprised by how many already exist. The ones that appear to be doing well seem to have strong marketing, good design, and a lot of attention to detail in their products. Seeing them made me ask myself: is there still an opportunity here?
I think there is. There are many potential customers, and my product might be a good fit for some of them. I have to start somewhere, and this is where I’m starting.
The product will require me to distribute a native Mac app, so I also spent some time learning Swift and exploring Xcode, which I hadn’t used before. Most importantly, I learned more about how to release the app.
I find it a little absurd that Apple’s notarization process plays such a big role in distributing software that people can install and run on their own Macs. Still, learning how it works is part of the journey—and today, I took the first step.
